Choking On Air is a progressive metalcore band from Santa Fe in New Mexico, formed in 2010.
"Choking on Air is a progressive metalcore band ... with diverse musical influences ranging from The Beatles to Whitechapel. The band began as mere Garage Punk band, founded by members Tavi Zeir (Keyboards) John Helfrich (Drums) and George Helfrich (Lead Vocals, Guitar), occasionally playing shows and taking part in the New Mexico underground Punk scene. After various member changes, guitarist Terren Newman eventually joined, and Choking on Air began gradually evolving with the addition of breakdowns, unclean vocals, and heavy riffs. Despite this, however, the band remained deeply rooted in punk.
Due to such a surge of heavy metal influence, Newman soon moved to lead vocals, dropped guitar, and learned to use his voice to do everything from low growls to high screams. Meanwhile, female bassist Bridie Alexander-Lawrie completed the lineup, bringing with her a
