Lloth is a black metal act from Greece that has three distinct periods of activity in their history.
The first incarnation of Lloth was formed by Tristessa in 1995 as an all female black metal band and was the original name of the band Astarte, under which they released their demo Dancing in the Dark Lakes of Evil in 1997 before changing their name.
Even with Astarte still active, the Lloth name was revived in 2003 with a new line-up for some live shows before ceasing activity again.
In 2013 Lloth was activated for a third time, however it was during this time that Tristessa was diagnosed with leukemia, which put their plans on hold. Tristessa died on August 10th 2014. In September Lloth, who are currently fronted by Tristessa's widower Nicolas Sic Maiis, announced that they would be continuing in her memory.
