StormQueen was a Welsh NWOBHM act. They were fairly early on the scene, releasing their first demo, "Battle of Britain" in 1980. The name came from the title of a book by Marion Zimmer-Bradly.
Their early influences included AC/DC, Motorhead, Sabbath, Judas Priest, Marc Bolan, Rush, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie.
After bassist Bryn Merryck left to join The Damned in 1981, the "classic" StormQueen lineup was established.
StormQueen continued to release their own demos: "Come Silent the World" in 1982, followed by two more offerings in '82 and '84 respectively.
The latter was released as a single on the band's own Real Fire label, and has been described as being "about an eccentric Eco-Warrior (before the term became such a cliché), fighting to protect the forests, the mountains and the wildlife."
After a long hiatus and the resurgence in popularity of metal and NWOBHM, the band got back together in the studio in 2006
