Taranis are an epic extreme metal band from Budapest, Hungary. They play from a wide range of influences including progressive viking metal act Borknagar, and even has some power metal influence in clean vocal passages. However, this band is primarily a symphonic black metal band comparable most heavily with Kataxu but also with Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, and fellow countrymen Sear Bliss.
Taranis were originally a two man project on their founding year of 1999 with Erik Halmosi and Attila Bakos. During this time, they only released one demo. The band called it quits in 2003, but Bakos revived the project in 2011 only to stop again in 2013.
