The Dissension is a progressive / technical metalcore band from Harbor Springs in Michigan, formed in 2008.

Members Neil Carolan, Josh Bonter, Marshall Byron, and Adam Parada began writing music for a metal project in late 2008. Soon after, they included long time friend and musician Zack Davison on vocals, and The Dissension was created.
After writing and playing around Northern Michigan for friends and family, The Dissension decided to become an active local band in late 2010. They later released a demo "Downfall" in late October, and after gaining local notoriety, recorded and released an EP titled "Imperium" in February of 2011.
