One of the saddest loses in music this century, Neil Peart has lost a 3 1/2 year battle with brain cancer. R.I.P. Neil, you were an inspiration.

I first heard of Rush in the mid-nineties, while exploring progressive rock and by chance I found a slightly burned (yep it had been through a fire and still smelled burned) vinyl copy of "Moving Pictures" at a second hand store (purchased along with Genesis ...and Then There Were Three), and I vividly remember listening to "Tom Sawyer" and thinking what a weird ass vocalist and what an incredible drummer that band have. Neil´s drum performance on "Moving Pictures" ranks among the top drumming performances on a rock album IMO. Otherwordly performance that one and a great inspiration on how I perceived drumming and rhythm in rock music. It seems he was a clever and warm human being too, which of course doesn´t make him passing any easier, so yeah it´s a huge loss.
