This article focusses to a degree on the politics of Nergal's homeland (Poland), but it's an interesting read -

For a member country of the EU and a in many ways modern country, Poland is far behind when it comes to separating politics and religion. Their new abortion laws are absolutely awful too.

Add in what's been happening in Hungary and there are some worrying shifts in the East that are going on.

Yeah I am actually pretty worried for the European Union these days. It´s not that I´m a huge fan of the EU and many of the bureaucratic processes and odd decisions, but IMO the most important reason to keep the EU alive is that we have a better chance of keeping the peace between the great nations of Europe, who have otherwise been at war with each other almost constantly for thousands of years (including two terrible world wars in the last century).

The UK leaving EU, and too many of the old Eeastern block countries not respecting basic human rights, could soon lead to a collapse of the EU....and what comes after that...?
