Locked the old thread due to it seeming to reach some sort of technical cap for images.

Again. It's very rare for a modern prog album to earn 5 stars from me on first listen, but this did, and the second listen is only going ever better! This is basically Evergrey, if they had more power metal elements, a technically better singer (I love Tom, but he's not really great technically, tbh) and much better melodies.

Don't Suss Me Out sounds like a combination of Prong and the Cake song Race Car Ya-Ya's and I love it.

I was expecting this to be a comedown, after that amazing Vanishing Point album and a couple awesome new singles, but the track "Halo" is fantastic. Otherwise, though, it basically is just yet another generic Primal Fear album so far, as always.

Getting the impression that Spock's Beard must have been pretty fond of this band.
Try and find some live videos on youtube. GG were absolutely mindblowing live. Shifting between instruments, playing crazy technical rhythms and notes, and smiling while doing it

Liking seeing all the Eloy and Ozrics.
Got to say, I haven't been blown away by any Eloy album yet the same way as Floating. I love that one and already bought it.
Ozrics I'm really getting into as well, though I've only heard two albums so far. More electronic than I normally listen to but I love their spacey vibes. I've ordered Strangeitude so far.

There's no beating Floating, but I really love Performance and Metromania too. However those are really different, very 80's with more of a new wave rock sound though still with some heavy and spacey sections.
You can't go wrong with any Ozrics albums, but other than the two you've heard I'd recommend Erpland, The Hidden Step, and Paper Monkeys next. If you enjoy their electronic side, I also recommend checking out Eat Static which was formed from members Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton.

Seeing all this Chevelle got me in the mood, listening to this album.
EDIT: Forgot how great this album is, I'd say its grown on me a bit since I last listened. The Clincher is always on rotation, but there's a ton of favorites on here.

Finally bumped this up to a 5 like Performance after loving it more and more with every listen. There's just so many layers of great melodies, atmospherics, and hooks all joining in unison. Can't understand how Eloy didn't get big in the 80's, this is peak arena rock.

Immortal's best IMO. And greatest artwork too.

That album kicks ass, but Sons of Northern Darkness is my favorite. One By One is one of metal's best album openers.

Fuckin' hell, I really don't get prog. I don't understand this much at all!
I won't be RUSH-ing to listen to it again.

I'm not a prog fan either apart from Gentle Giant and a couple Yes albums, but I've always considered Rush more of a hard rock/metal band than a prog band. Though this is when they first started going in a new wave-y direction. Heard their early stuff? Caress of Steel is my favorite.
Since my mp3 player absolutely refuses to sort splits into one folder I've ended up listening to this first as a four Mare Cognitum tracks, then four Spectral Lore tracks and now finally the two collaboration tracks. Both bands have enough individual material here to have put out an album each, but the flow just doesn't work properly out of sequence.

You haven´t heard the debut?. That should definitely be your NeXT listen...
No, the debut I have heard, thinking about it a bit more. I always missed this one though.

Never heard this demo song before, but it's awesome. Can see why it didn't end up on Cowboys as it's more on the Power Metal side than the Cowboys one, but I can hear a bit of what would become This Love in there.

I can see how it wouldn't quite fit, but there are definitely CFH elements in it.

It´s probably my favorite FK´s album. And...your description is right. It´s a mammoth of a prog rock album.
Great album. Some of their longer (double CD) albums could have benefited from some quality control but there's nearly always much to enjoy though their recent albums don't hold up against the classic stuff like Space Revolver (my favourite), Flower Power and Stardust We Are.

My Dad passed this one to me to check out. I've not heard a full album by the band before. I will say that I absolutely hate that track of theirs with all the yodelling on it. Hocus Pocus I believe it is.

Hocus Pocus by Focus. Helloween covered it on their Metal Jukebox album. Focus also did the theme song for Saxondale (Steve Coogan comedy about an ageing roadie/exterminator).
