Why is Artist X Included on MMA?

We need to be clear that this thread's presence on the forum is not an open invitation to start a witch hunt to get acts removed from Metal Music Archives (which is the kind of behaviour you will observe in a similar thread on Encyclopedia Metallum's forum). It's here for when you genuinely don't know why we included a certain artist and we'll answer you. Artists added solely as Metal Related and/or Non-Metal will usually have a note at the end of their biography explaining their inclusion, so do check there first before posting here. Very rarely it might turn out to be the case that an artist shouldn't be here at all and usually when this happens it will be because it's a lingering automatically imported artist from the site's beginnings. 

This is not the place to suggest that artists and releases be moved between sub-genres. Only for artists you're unsure why they're on the site at all. If you think something should be here but is incorrectly filed, you can post a new thread about it within this same forum section.
