In recent years there has been a resurgence amongst 80's traditional/hair/glam metal bands with the release of some new albums from a number of bands that went dormant for a number of years. A couple of these bands have been releasing albums all along, but some of them have been defunct for a decade or more. Some of these are full reunion albums and some of them are just the lead singer continuing on with all new members. Anyhow, which of these albums have you heard? What did you think of them? For poll purposes, which is your favorite?

Some others that I didn't list as they are a bit heavier than traditional/hair/glam metal but might trigger some interesting discussions:
Armored Saint - La Raza
Exodus - Exhibit B: The Human Condition
Heaven and Hell - The Devil You Know (kind of a stretch, but it is/was a Black Sabbath reunion band)
Judas Priest - Nostradamas
Metallica - Death Magnetic
Overkill - Ironbound
Saxon - Into The Labryinth
Slayer - World Painted Blood
W.A.S.P. - Babylon

To be honest, I haven't heard most of those albums. Armored Saint's La Raza was a solid release after a large gap between albums, same with Death Magnetic (production aside).

I too have heard just a couple of them. Chinese Democracy is my favourite from them I guess, a good underrated album which makes me want to hear some more new Axl sooner than in 15 years.

I've got about 10 of these albums and just thought it might be a neat way to make people aware of all of these new albums released by older bands. Maybe if I get a chance this weekend I'll add some blurbs about the ones that I know.

AC/DC, Scorpions and Whitesnake are seventies bands.
I voted "other" : Melvins' 'the bride screamed murder' is the best rock album of 2010 so far. Edited by lucas - 11 Jun 2010 at 3:57pm |

If I have to pick from that list, winger's karma is my top pick, but honestly hard to say it's superior than the other new releases, at least there are a lot on the same level, or just slightly weaker.
I'll try putting more reviews on those bands' new releases slowly :) |

I haven't heard most of these, but I will vote "other" for Metallica's Death Magnetic. One of the best comebacks out there IMO.

Quite a few of them I haven't heard but that new Ratt album is great! What a return to form! As good as they ever were.

Got to go with Chinese Democracy because it's the only new album I've heard in its entirity. At first listen, I hated it actually, but after dropping my classic era G'N'R tinted goggles...I took a shine to it as it is very different.

My thoughts exactly.
but then again, I'm happy they are in this poll, because it gives a choice between these three and not the real 80's bands!!!

I've voted for Europe's Last Look at Eden; I love the new and improved Europe (if I dare say) - I love their work since their come back in 2004 with Start from the Dark.

I havent heard a single one of those albums. I guess that tells something about my taste in music.
