Since Priest have now been removed from NWoBHM, this thread is closed.

Thanks for rephrasing. Now that your point is clear, I can only say that I agree that all NWoBHM is heavy metal, but not all metal is NWoBHM.

I think you misunderstood my point. Let me rephrase: All NWoBHM is still heavy metal. But not all heavy metal is NWoBHM.

Also I never once said that this site shouldn't have a NWoBHM tag. So my argument is hardly 'groundless'.

NWoBHM was such an important movement that it's listed as a sub here UNDER traditional heavy metal (as you can see if you take a look at the list of subs on the left side of the MMA main pages), so all those releases are already under traditional heavy metal. That means that all the releases and artists that are listed under NWoBHM are also included under traditional heavy metal, so your complaint or argument here is groundless. Also, arguing that X and Y albums should not be under sub A because sub A should not be here at all is kinda pointless because then it's all about the sub and not the releases.

That said, I wouldn't consider those JP albums NWoBHM myself, and I do not know who placed them there or why, but whoever did it probably felt they had a reason to do it.

I've actually wondered about this myself, they did see a stylistic change with Killing Machine so maybe that's why.

This site has several JP releases tagged as NWoBHM. This is quite obviously illogical. They existed before NWoBHM. NWoBHM means 'New Wave' of British Heavy Metal. Emphasis on the 'New'. They cannot have been part of a new wave of something if they existed before (and should really be counted as part of the original wave, if anything). Please fix.
