I know I'm a few years late, but I've just finished this. There are some great storylines through it. It also does a more realistic job of recreating the 1980s than Stranger Things' rose-tinting. Am just about to start on this. I watches the first episode already and it looks like fun!

I love it Adam. The reviews put me off, especially having read the Silmarillion and associated texts numerous times. It's excellent.

I don't care what anyone says: this is good, very good even. But it has shown the Tolkien fandom to be one of, if not the most toxic fandoms going. You'd think no adaptation that came before it ever changed anything going from page to screen to create a workable TV show or movie. At the point season 2 ends we should be in Second Age 1697. Sauron is defeated in Second Age 3441. And I seriously think some 'fans' think the show should be depicting that completely unworkable for screen timeline precisely the way they are carrying on about 'changes' and 'fan fiction'. Pfff, all adaptations are fan fiction on such terms. Okay, rant over.

The ending to The Umbrella Academy also felt a little rushed. Storywise it was alright, but it felt rushed.

The stupid thing is I'm pretty sure they said years ago when the show started that it had a three season plan.
There is something to be said for sticking to limited, one and done shows. What's more Star Wars The Acolyte has also been cancelled. I mean, seriously? They finally introduce Darth Plagueis into live action and five minutes later cancel the show?

Happens too many times. Marco Polo on Netflix (an old series now) was superb but ended abruptly, as it was deemed too expensive to continue.

Just finished the third and final season of Vikings Valhalla and am pissed off! The last season and they end it like that? On not one, not two, but three separate cliff-hangers and pretty much every storyline unresolved?
Also I thought the whole point of the sequel show was to go up to 1066? All the groundwork was laid ready for that and for what? The final episode single-handedly made the final season of this show one of the worst final seasons in TV history for me.

What is presumably only the first season of this just came to an end. This show has been divisive but I kinda liked it because it takes Star Wars in an unexpected direction. I don't want to be too spoilery in case anyone's not finished it yet but this is the first Star Wars media where I sympathised more with the Sith than the Jedi - who came across as unlikable and even villainous in this. I hope the mixed reaction doesn't mean this show gets canned without resolution because while it wasn't always the best and most entertaining modern Star Wars has been, it's also the most interested and included several live-action firsts:

Read the book last year but didn't know this existed until it popped up on Prime. It's an excellent and very faithful adaptation.

Anyone watched Shōgun on Disney+? I haven't read the books and the series apparently changes the chronology a bit to fit the story into ten episodes, but it was really good. Loved it.

^Oh...well that´s certainly not the case in the TV-series, although some are Chinese.

I'm still only three in. The book was good but I couldn't say loved it. I liked it enough to be interested in the series. The major difference other than pacing is that the book has an almost entirely Chinese cast of characters.

That really puzzles me because the series could not be much more like the games as is and is actually like the games in ways you'd think a tv show would skim over such as item mechanics showed being used (Stimpak healing for instance). The reference to how these are games players often ignore the main quest in was also so on point. What's more the set and prop designs are lifted straight from Fallout 4 to impeccable detail. If people are complaining about it not being enough like the games I'd be tempted to conclude that they: A. Haven't actually played the games. B. Are still hung up on the original Fallout games pre-Bethesda. C. Are just shit-stirring. Good to see you here by the way mate, been a while!

I'm staying true to form by being late to the party but I just finished season one of Fallout. There are some elements I think could've been better but I like it. I've seen some people mad that it isnt more like the games or whatever but I'm personally quite fine with adaptations being different in some areas. But then I have only ever played New Vegas and wouldnt really call myself a Fallout fan so I guess there's that.
