So I stuck that Panopticon review link in my CV. I also put thrash metal and grindcore as my interests.

Had a job interview today for a technical writing position. Had a discussion on what grindcore actually was!

One of the women interviewing me is a punk rocker from way back, and a big fan of The Blockheads, who I didn't realise were still going without Ian Dury, and she tried several times to find my review online. Once we found it, both women were silent for quite some time reading it. Both were very impressed, saying it was well written and had no spelling mistakes (very important in technical writing!). Also had a discussion on what atmospheric black metal was. To be honest, it sounds a bit silly trying to explain it to a non-metal fan. Embarrassed

Anyway, they were also very impressed with all the description in the review, and one wanted to listen to it immediately!

So, I'm not confident about getting the job, but at least I showed two people who knew nothing about metal what could actually be involved in it, and I think it was probably quite a successful review if someone knowing nothing of it wanted to listen to it.

It might have been a gamble, but hey, I think it paid off! Beer

It's more about showing off my abilities as a writer than the actual content, like do I remember to use capital letters and full stops. Big smile

I would say the best ones to feature would be the ones that are most informative and maybe from bands that are a bit more known. I think the Motorhead one would be a good pick, but on the flip side the Panopticon review is well-researched as you say.

I'm currently redoing my CV (some of you will know it as a resume, but I speak proper English! Wink

), and my employment advisor (my sister-in-law!) recommended I stick links to a couple of reviews in there. I'm going for a job as a technical writer, and she reckons showing I write reviews here shows initiative and creativity. However, I'm wondering what I should go for.

This is my favourite:

but I think the subject matter might be just a bit too... unsettling? for a potential employer, and it has quite a high "fuck" count. LOL
