Well I just gave the new Blood Incantation the first listen, and I must say it´s a brilliant album. It went straight to number 1 on my 2024 list. what a great eclectic tech/prog death metal release, featuring loads of 70s psychedelic/space rock influences from artists like Tangerine Dream, Eloy, and of course Pink Floyd.

Just listened to the new Black Dahlia Murder, and it´s a great album. They did the right thing continuing after the tragic death of Trevor Strnad: https://theblackdahliamurder.bandcamp.com/album/servitude http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/black-dahlia-murder-the/servitude

HMV's not sent mine yet even though it says in stock not the release date's come around. They've sent the copy of Hidden History of the Human Race I ordered at the same time but not this one. Different warehouse maybe, I don't know.

I'm deliberately avoiding listening on Spotify so I can enjoy it on the hi-fi when my copy arrives. Having said that I already heard half of it on the video they released. Opeth might be the band to beat them, we shall see.

The new Blood Incantation album is surely the album to beat for this year now.

I haven´t really enjoyed any of their releases since they ditched the death metal growling, so I´m pretty excited about this. Their progressive rock phase is not bad, but just not my poison I guess. If I want to listen to progressive rock I usually go for the 70s classics.

^ They've been gradually bringing the metal back, next one will be full on death metal or maybe not. Sounds promising for a great album though.

New discovery of mine. I just picked up their entire discography dirt cheap:
Got to wait for the discs but most of my sale also came with download codes for bandcamp to start listening immediately. I'm keeping a few things I bought back as blind buys but ended up playing all three of their albums already. To my ears it's quality dissonant death metal, which is a particular sound I've begun to find appreciation for this year after dabbling a bit with a couple of other acts in the past. |

I watched the video single, and it was pretty much as expected. I like them and I´m going to review the new album, but it´s not a favorite band of mine.

New album from 200 Stab Wounds well worth a listen for lovers of raw old school death metal. |

I have heard their most recent one but no others.
Here's a 2024 tech death release I really dug on the first listen: https://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/apogean/cyberstrictive
