I got it from their labels site: http://www.lifeisabuse.com/main_catalog.html. Sounds so filthy it's not funny on vinyl |

Brian maybe you can explain to Colin about the Musicbrainz update! So he doesnt break sweat adding albums that can be added automatically and only later edited.

From what I've heard hear I'd say sludge metal is an appropriate place.
Sounds, well sludgy, more than it is doomy IMO. If there are no objections, I'll add them. Colin can take care of all the albums and such Edited by The Angry Scotsman - 17 Dec 2010 at 4:31pm |

Yep but youll have to ask a Special Collab to add them as Collabs cant add artists. You can add albums and info when the artist is added though.

so, uh, do I get to evaluate them now, too?
I think you know my verdict I've got 2 albums by them (The Aftermath and Human=Garbage) and both are thick, sloppy, crusted goo Edited by Triceratopsoil - 17 Dec 2010 at 4:21pm |

Were still adjusting things, but the concensus for now has been that sludge and post-metal should be placed in the same sub as they do share a lot of similar elements. Maybe at some point those two will be seperated. Ill pass your suggestion on to the sludge/ post metal team for now. Lets see what they have to say.

it's properly crust-punk, but that's not a "real" genre nor is it technically metal... but Dystopia defs is

Seeing sludge/post at first can be a bit meh, but post metal is a fairly small sub genre
And it often sludgy....so they are grouped together. I do wish the actual band page could say "Sludge" or "Post" though just to specify. IMHO. The suggestion will be looked at Colin! From these quick listens I could see sludge metal for sure. Doom is also a good fit though. |

yes, but I think it's the same sort of problem that progarchives has with it's experimental/post-metal subgenre: you have a very experimental band but you can't put it there because the post-rock fans will see it in the top albums, listen to it, and be confused/scared.
Your call, though, I haven't been around here long enough to know how you guys run this place |

Im not suggesting they are post metal. The catagory here on MMA is just called Sludge/ post metal. That sub holds acts of both kinds.

not sure about that, I would say if it was just sludge then absolutely, but you can't really put them in with post-metal. For that reason I'm leaning more towards doom

Difficult to place arent they? Love the angry sounding vocals. really caustic. Do you think the sludge/ post metal catagory would be the best fit?

A crust-punk/death metal/doom/sludge band from California. One of the filthiest things I've ever heard.
myspace some samples: sort of sounds like early Baroness, if their singer was in the process of dying Edited by Triceratopsoil - 17 Dec 2010 at 2:00pm |
