I don't recall which track exactly it was and it's actually from 1969 but I recall one in particular while evaluating Golden Earring's Eight Miles High seeming very heavy for its time. I'll revisit the album later and find out which it was and post it.

While many bands from the 70's that may have been called metal back then are now seen as hard rock, if you look deep enough, you may find some songs from those bands that could still be seen as metal. What are some songs you think of when you think of 70's metal from bands that aren't generally called metal today?
Here's some of my favorites: I could easily see this being a Black Sabbath song. Those riffs at around 4:40 combined with Geddy Lee's aggressive vocals. Now that's metal. This sounds straight out of the NWoBHM, I'd love to hear Iron Maiden cover this song.
