I fell asleep listening to Pulse Demon and it didn't bother me at all, his music is peaceful when you get past the abrasiveness.

^^^^ he's released some pretty good albums over the years. Some of his musique concr�te albums through the '80's would be some of my favourites. Hopefully your brother goes onward 'n' upward to check out the rest of what noise has got to offer.

I'll admit while listening to Forest Poetry and Strength and Anger by Ildjarn on repeat yesterday my head began to throb in the wee hours of the morning. I'm going to blame it on the lack of coffee tho' :)

I'm going to go with Meshuggah too. It makes my brain itch. I guess that's the point of all the insane rhythmic stuff they do.
Oh, and Khanate too, that's a harrowing listen.

Iron Maiden does this for me after a while.  I think it's the vocals mainly.

For me, certain Bull of Heaven pieces.  Especially the 13 hour long one which would have been the longest one I've ever listened to, but I was listening to it during the bus ride to and from Florida (mp3 player's battery life prevented listening to the whole thing in one trip).  I stopped on the way back about 6 or so hours into the song.  Still the longest amount of time I've spent listening to a single Bull of Heaven piece.

Yeah Meshuggah can be quite an exhausting listen but once you settle into the hypnotic groove it�s pure bliss IMO. One of my favorite acts.

I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned Meshuggah yet. That's a typical case of brain damaging band, I love'em but too much exposure to them makes me numb and autistic
