Burzum is one of my favourite bands so I will have to vote for them. I really love Darkthrone however.

I'm tempted to second this, but I've yet to hear a Darkthrone album in its entirety so I'll refrain for now. |

burning churches was a sport in my homecountry in the mid 90s. but it did not qualify to the X-games, it was just to extreme for the extreme sports

That one defines a 5 star black metal album for me. Listening to that one on a cold, snowy day is awesome.

Darkthrone. I'd honestly take A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Under a Funeral Moon over Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Filosofem.
I also like their punkish output they're doing lately as well, especially their 2010 album Circle the Wagons, which I think is their best album in years.

Haven't heard Darkthrone but I really like Burzum, especially Hvis Lyset Tar Oss.

If Darkthrone had only released "Soulside Journey" they would get my vote.

I love both, but i have to give the vote to Darkthrone, probobly my favorit BM band, they got more albums i like then Burzum, and i allso like thire newer albums and new style. Allso Fenriz is a more fun and cool guy then Vikernes.

I like recent Burzum much more than recent Darkthrone. But I like Darkthrone's best moments better than Burzum's. Transylvanian Hunger is what Black Metal is about.

I like less Darkthrone but I voted them because they have more songs in english, they're not neo-nazists and in some albums have louder production (not better necessarily). I like more Burzum because of its ambient/electronic element and because Vikernes's vocals in Lost wisdom created the depressive black metal subgenre which I love.

Don't like either, but Burzum has made one of the few "traditional" black metal albums I like, while Darkthrone......not so much.
Guess my vote has to be Burzum! *burns a church* |
