Topic: Dream Theater's best Posted: 28 Aug 2014 at 2:55am |
You know, I'm really not sure how we can run a Dream Theater's best poll and then automatically exclude 75% of their full-lengths from it.
Scenes is my favourite sure, but they have other albums I'd then rank before I&W or Awake.
I think I'll close this and restart it with a complete poll.

My favorite is 'A Dramatic Turn of Events', but if I had to pick out of these I would pick Scenes or Awake

Definitley not their best, but I do like that one alot and it seems to get alot of unwarranted hate, I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes that one.

I pretty much agree.

Wow its almost a tie by now with "Images" just a few votes ahead of "Awake" and a couple more ahead of "Scenes".

Awake is their best album by far, but it's definitley a grower.
That said, Images and Scenes would both be in my top 3 (by them).

Of those 3, I have to say Images & Words. Awake wouldn't even make my top 5 from them. Scenes might make it at #5, but maybe not.

Awake easily their best.
Images and Words second.
Scenes last. But, I think I like Train of Thought, Six Degrees, and Systematic Chaos better than Scenes anyways.

Well, out of these Awake is my favorite (and it's one of their tops IMO) but my favorite is Train of Thought

I have yet to listen to Awake in full, but I own the other two on CD and Images and Words is definitely the superior one. Scenes From a Memory had a little too much bullshit and not enough metal. I found myself skipping a lot of the songs on it.
I like Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Train of Thought, and Octavarium better than either of those two anyway.
