Hard pick.
I might say 2005. On my list on RYM of the best albums on that list, most of them are 4.5/5 or higher. In fact, 13 are 5/5s with Weltanschauung by Nokturnal Mortum flying the flag.

I think both 1986 and 2009 were two of the best years for metal, based on my own tastes.
1986 had: Reign In Blood, Peace Sells, Master Of Puppets, Pleasure To Kill, Game Over, Somewhere In Time, all of which are real classics 2009 had: Crack The Skye by Mastodon Hordes Of Chaos by Kreator Endgame by Megadeth World Painted Blood by Slayer The Infection by Chimaira Wrath by Lamb of God Killswitch Engage by Killswitch Engage War Is The Answer by Five Finger Death Punch Pray For Villains by DevilDriver Hatebreed by Hatebreed Retribution by Shadows Fall The Devil You Know by Heaven & Hell Sonic Boom by Kiss Wavering Radiant by Isis Octahedron by The Mars Volta Strange Cousins from the West by Clutch All of which I absolutely love now. (Excuse the links, I copy/pasted it out of an old amazon list I'd made) You ? |
