^I enjoy both the solo career and the brutal awesomeness of SYL!

Interesting. I feel exactly the opposite. I love SYL but struggle to get into Devins solo stuff

Alien, but I could never really get into SYL nearly as much as I could with Devy's solo stuff. Alien is just about as good as something like Physicist (which yes, I realize are very similar) which is one of Devy's weakest.

City.
By far. Easily. Undisputed. After the psychiatric treatment, Devin's work with SYL just wasn't as intense. City is ridiculously magnificent, catchy, chaotic and precise at the same time. Amazing vocal lines, amazing vocal performance. The later albums are great (I think I'm with Alien as well) but none reached the brilliance of City. City was...shockingly good.

Man, The New Black is vastly underrated here on MMA. It's an awesome album, the bridge between SYL and the solo works of Devin Townsend.

Either the self-titled or Alien for me. Haven't heard The New Black though.

I haven't heard The New Black in its entirety, but of the rest I'd probably say City.

Its either City or Alien, but besides the debut which I find a bit uneven, Im quite the big fan of the rest. Ill go with Alien which is just amazing.
