I am very sorry for this tragedy affecting a people that has already had its share of such events, and did not deserve to go through such turmoil once again.

The President of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, and a lot of representatives of Poland's elites, died in the crash of the president's plane in Russia today. 96 persons died. They were flying to Smolensk, to commemorate the massacre of the military elites by Russian Communists in Katyń in 1940. One could say that history repeats itself...The country is now mourning its deads for one week, and is planning to bring forward the presidential elections. I am particularly affected by this tragedy as I am a native of Poland, a country that my parents left during the Martial Law. Fortunately, they taught me to speak, read and write in polish.
