It is, though I feel like I need a few more listens before this really opens up. A single 40 minute epic is a lot for even me to take in.

Okay, had a listen. I'm not grabbed but they've got some interesting elements there.

I wouldn't want to listen to a whole album like that though.

Did you try the Ra song? (There's no rapping btw)

^ I generally find them more interesting than most Fates Warning releases I've heard.

Maybe not Spectre Within or Awaken the Guardian, but they're different to those even if those are the John Arch FW classics.

I struggle to get into most of FW with Ray. Nothing to do with his singing, just have been able to get the material to really click.

NP:

Finally picked up a copy of this. It could become a subject of my revisited reviews series. I was more lukewarm to this at the time of release, but hearing it on CD for the first time having more or less forgotten it and not listening to their other stuff as much as I was at the time is allowing me to appreciate this one more in its own right.

I listened to this one yesterday. I just can´t stop listening to Arch / Matheos. Both albums are brillitant and Unique pieces of progressive metal. I can´t get over the fact that a 55 years old man can sing like this Shocked

^ As far as rap bits go I don't mind the Kyrbgrinder track on a second listen, having got over the surprise (the other album I streamed had nothing of the sort on it).

I wouldn't want to listen to a whole album like that though.

Anyway, this morning's plays so far:

I'm quickly coming to see this one as a massive return to form.

The first album of The Neal Morse Band entity. A little different to Morse solo stuff, with more hard rocking/heavy parts than most of his albums have. Probably the best he's done (of the ones I've heard) since Sola Scriptura. There's two more The Neal Morse Band albums after this that I haven't heard (both sprawling double albums).

Made me curious about the rap metal song and ended up listening through the other songs. Good alt metal stuff, some of the riffs even sound nu metal to me (Fall Away especially). Reminds me of the band Ra minus the Middle-Eastern elements, been loving this song lately:

^I'd recommend checking out their other early albums, the debut, Inside, and Power and the Passion.

Nice, one of my favorites. What'd you think of it?

Very good. I preferred this one to the other one I tried.
