As the only alternative metal team member, I say that they belong on this site. It's just a matter of me finding the time to get them added. Or if you'd like to do it, you can go ahead and add them / tag the appropriate albums as alt metal.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they are crossover thrash, but they were indeed quite heavy from what I recall.

Raimundos always changed a bit from album to album, but they keep their hardcore influence on everything I think. 1994 - Raimundos - They were doing Hardcore (with this brazilian influence here and there) 1995 - Lav T Novo - Here they still have a lot of hardcore but heavier, I would say Crossover 1997 - Lapadas Do Povo - Really heavy, lot of Ratos De Poro influence, some Trash I would say 1999 - S No Forevis - Still heavy, but little more pop maybe 2002 - Em Kavookavala - back to the 97 sound I think (Fique Fique video above)

The vids Tupan posted are really helpful. This would definitely be suitable for alt metal. I've seen descriptions of the band being described as hardcore/punk. Did they ever change sounds much or did they pretty much sound consistent for their career? I'd just like to know in case any of their work should be classified as something else.

They are definitely alternative metal and possibly the biggest alternative metal act in Brazil.

Forr is in fact a traditional music/dance from North east of Brazil, today it's divided into a lot of modern sub genres. It's a mix of other traditional styles of music. Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPOoPKUQ48c But Raimundos took this traditional dancing rhythm and put metal in it, then we have something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ShxBeWdR9Y I've seen the band live on 2010 in the show where they recorded their last live dc/dvd (http://www.livrariasaraiva.com.br/produto/3458600/roda-viva-2-cds/?ID=BAFC8C3B7DB05141733280632&PAC_ID=26915), was crowded and was fun as hell

The "umbrella dance" is Frevo: http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frevo And Raimundos is great. I went to their last gig, a free show, and it was awesome!

I don't think their metalcore. Maybe traditional but closer to alternative metal, but definitely not metalcore.

Another thread that slipped through the cracks. I'll check with the metalcore team.

They're definitely metal. They definitely have a hardcore influence to their sound. I also hear a bit of thrash and alternative metal there too. But I wouldn't go so far as to call them metalcore. I'll link this to those 2 genre team boards and let them decide which would be more appropriate. But I think thrash or alternative would be more appropriate.

I know, it's funny, think about it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPOoPKUQ48c) more Metal and Hardcore, in the end you'll have: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e6XfnSLIWQ or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nhjy5-w8poo&feature=related
And their lyrics are funny stories about our 'normal days' so it's kinda very funny :D
