Ok, Praxis has now been added - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/praxis.aspx
Should anyone feel that any of the releases could be better described, genre-wise, please let me know. There must be some committed Praxis fans out there?!

That's the only one I own, and would say that it does share similarities to Primus (Brain plays on it too!). Alt would probably work for that one, and I assume it would for the live version.

I've only heard their first album Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis), which is funk metal like Primus and early Mr. Bungle, so that one would be a good candidate for alternative metal, since all the funk metal bands go under that genre.

Thanks for the suggestion, Joseph. We've just added Buckethead; maybe that's what prompted your suggestion? If you check out Buckethead you'll see his albums variably tagged as prog metal, alt metal, hard rock and non metal. We need to undertake the same review on Praxis. As I don't know the band well at all, are you able to give any help on which genres the releases belong too? Rate Your Music lists the following;
Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) - Alt Metal
Sacrifist - Avant-garde Metal
Transmutation Live - Alt Metal
Tennessee 2004 - Alt Metal
Not sure if you agree with these? How would you rate these four albums (assuming you know these ones) and any of the artist's other releases, which appear to be non metal?
Thanks for your help with this! |

Praxis (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Would fit well under avant-garde metal, alternative metal or progressive metal.
