Eloy's guitar solos on 'Floating' are simply sublime, no wonder it's my favorite album of theirs. Big smile

Also recently remembered the solo in Lacuna Coil's 'Zombies', love how it plays over the crunching guitar.

There's also sort of a watered down (but still entertaining) version of Eruption on VH III called 'Primary'. Just more Eddie Shreddie Cool

An awesome solo that always comes to my mind is Faith & Decision by Versailles (min 3 approx.)

Oh yeah, How could i forget "Eruption" Deep Purple had great solos too. "Highway Star" is probably one of the earliest shredding. Too many to count!

Nah! Cool

Well the entire song is pretty much Van Halen just shredding the guitar, so I guess the entire song is  a solo. LOL

Hell yeah, Adrian was on top of his game on that album. Stranger in a Strange Land might be my favourite solo ever, and Wasted Years is also great. Too bad he doesn't tend to play it all the way to the end live. Other favourites are the Pulse version of Floyd's Comfortably Numb and something that nobody else has ever mentioned, In Flames's Satellites and Astronauts.

I don't have a favorites list but here are a few i can come up with on the spot:

Mr Crowley by Randy Rhoads (really everything on the first two Ozzy albums is kick ass)
Guitars Suck by Bumblefoot (same goes with all his solos really)
anything by Marty Friedman on Rust In Peace and his early solo albums
anything on Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn
Most Symphony X albums
First Boroslav Mitic album (and 2nd)
Early Metallica albums
Steve Howe songs like The Clap, Nature Of The Sea
Paco de Lucia's early flamenco albums in the 70s
early Iron Maiden
and the list really goes on but these are some of my faves from a technical point of view

uh, I could give two hundred answers on the subject. lol

Well,

I'll talk about 5 songs that I remember now:

The Ballad of Leonard and Charles (Exodus)
Holy Wars (Megadeth)
When The Water Breaks (Liquid Tension Experiment)
Stairway to Heaven (Led Zepellin)
For the Love of God (Steve Vai)

There are many other songs I have a question, but I wanted to highlight these.

Wink
