We had this topic on my (now closed) forum Heavy Metal Haven. Always been surprised to never see something similar here. Decided to correct that.
This is a place where you can proudly show off your collection, in whatever way you like. List what you have, post some pictures or maybe just frown or nod approvingly at what others post. I've maintained a list of mine for years so this is a quick copy/paste job for me. I haven't included digital stuff though, whether free downloads, purchases or promos (but I did include the couple pf physical promos I've obtained). Same way I got the ones fronted by Jacob, I got them before they became so hard to get. A Perfect Forever took a little while though, but eventually I got my copy on ebay. Imported it from somewhere or other, can't remember where now. Didn't pay that much either. I actually have a South American edition that contains the bonus track In the Valley of Kings, a song I didn't even know existed until my copy arrived.
Purification seemed easier to get than all the others at the time despite being the oldest, but even that's becoming harder to get now.

That's easy to answer: their record label went bust not long after releasing The Detached (and I don't think the band got paid what they were owed either).

I´m not completely sure, but I think I have around 500-600 vinyls and around 1000 CDs. Maybe 200 cassette tapes. The funny thing is, that I actually haven´t reviewed that many of the releases in my Collection yet. Most of the releases I have reviewed up until now are either promos, free digital releases (or streaming), or albums I loan through the Danish library system (who has a massive Collection of metal). So the well is far from dry

Ha ha, that´s quite funny. I purchased "The Detached" for 10 Danish Kroner (that´s less than 2 dollars these days). The local library was selling some of their Collection. And I´m not even much of a fan  (not that it´s a bad release or anything like that. I completely acknowledge the high quality product, and as far as I remember I rated it 4 stars.  A Sound of Thunder Discography - All Signed  A bunch of stuff got around last Xmas My collection is a bit too big to do a full photo or video version like some people do on YouTube, but I may add a few more choice albums next time I have my camera out.

I've got around 3500 albums - 1000 or so on vinyl and the rest on Cd. I guess if you counted the doubles and box sets as individual discs (like 27 cd King Crimson Box sets) it would be around 5000 discs. I suppose there has to be some benefits of being an old bugger!
I was watching a UK Tv show the other week called collectaholics and there was a guy on there who has amassed 75,000 Cd's! Crazy thing is he hardly plays them and usually listens to the radio. Ok third attempt to try and post...
My uncle has a special room dedicated to his vinyl collection. It is shelved ceiling to floor on each wall with two rows of shelves, also ceiling to floor. This houses his collection. It numbers in the 10's of thousands. His stereo cost more than my 3 bedroom, quarter acre house......no shit. His 4 piece stereo (2x speakers, amp, and record player) cost more than my house! 4 piece! more than my house! Shit writing that down just makes me realise how ridiculous that is. |

I've never managed to successfully list my (or rather, joint collection with my husband, which includes quite a few doubles) entire collection or done a count, but it's quite large, we don't actually have the room to keep it on display. A lot of albums are just packed into boxes.
