Black Metal and I have become one about one year ago. I always liked it but now it has obliterated all forms of metal.

^ It's grown on me more in the last couple of years too, or more accurately I've discovered there's a lot more to it than the lo-fi 2nd wave where it seemed to really take off and discovered some fantastic band's.

Well if you ever feel the urge to help out again, Teodoro, there's plenty here that still needs doing

Excellent, so I guess nu-metal and glam are not in your priorities then?

I'm on something of a black metal kick right now myself, especially atmospheric black metal.
Given your tastes Teodoro, have you heard Aquilus? If not it's a symphonic/atmospheric black metal act with strong classical elements and a bit of dark folk as well. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/aquilus I've been really addicted to the album lately. |

I need to check out that Aquilus album too. Adam's continual posting of it has made me curious.

Anyone else here love Absu? I've really been enjoying their thrash-y black metal sound lately, this song in particular:
The folk guitar at the beginning is especially really nice.

I've just checked out Absu this week, Khaliq. Long overdue I'm sure you'll agree.
I didn't get too good a first impression off of the Tara album but I really enjoyed The Sun of Tiphareth. Also finally checked Melechesh our this week and I'm liking these guys a lot. Listened to Djinn and Sphynx so far.

I think that black metal has now replaced power metal as my favourite metal genre. I probably still have more favourite bands within other genres but it's mostly black metal acts I've been checking out lately and I've also been revisiting some albums I've had a while but not played lately, including some of the Immortal and Darkthrone stuff.
This is another album I've been really quite into lately: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/taake/over-bjoergvin-graater-himmerik |

Tara is probably my favorite, but I love all of Absu's albums besides the debut (which isn't bad, just nowhere near the same quality). I love most of Melechesh's albums as well, Emissaries being my favorite. Sphynx is probably a close second though. Caravans to Ur is one of my favorite instrumentals.

Couple of good new ones I've listened to this weekend:
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/ungfell/totbring%C3%A6re A traditional unpolished BM sound but done well and with some atypical instruments thrown in here and there. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/wiegedood/de-doden-hebben-het-goed-ii Very good atmospheric black album featuring two members of Oathbreaker.

And of course my album of the year so far officially drops next month (got a promo way in advance for this one).
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/fen/winter To me this plays like some long track but you can hear the first (17 minute) part now here: http://soundcloud.com/fen-uk/fen-i-pathway?utm_source=soundcloud&utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=facebook
