Ok I got AAL's self-titled debut in the mail last Thursday and I have been listening to it nonstop, at least one listen a day, often more. I literally forced myself not to listen to it today so it wouldn't get old fast.
Anyone else listen to this? Tosin Abasi has instantly become one of my favorite guitarists. He can be as chaotic as Meshuggah while being one of the fastest shredders I've ever heard. But on the same time his electronics along with that unusual picking technique creates one of the most chilling, innovative, and strangely soothing timbres I've ever heard. Discuss? |

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

Tosin Abasi is just like "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!" and "DID I JUST HEAR A MAN PLAY THAT WELL?!" in one.
I should just quit playing guitar, because he makes me feel so useless and crap Edited by Harry - 10 Jun 2010 at 6:30am |

Tosin Abasi is the black Jesus.
I've become enamored with Animals as Leaders over the past month; I absolutely cannot get enough of their debut album, and I greatly anticipate seeing them live when they tour with Summer Slaughter soon.

I was pissed, they played in Phoenix (the closest city to where I live) the day my family left for a trip. Grr.
I found a BA shirt of theirs and I ordered it. |

Tosin's giving private guitar lessons at all the Summer Slaughter locations for 60 bucks an hour. I'm gonna see if I can get an hour with him in two weeks when they come by.

My younger brother mentioned it to me
"Instrumental prog metal band" and how it was crazy technical and figured I'd like it He was right! AAL is amazing. I thought the lack of vocals would hurt, but not at all. Amazing album. |
