^ Never seen the Japanese originals over here. They are around but not common. I disagree on the American sequels being awful. Because I've seen some truly awful horror movies in my time that make them look like masterpieces by comparison. They're just okay. I may have to watch this again to fully get it. That's not necessarily a comment on the film, as I watched most of it late last night and was starting to drift off a bit in the third quarter and may have missed a few key details.

This was neither as funny nor as clever as it had potential to be. Re-watch. Classic Clint. Never saw the first Cloverfield. This was really good though.

I liked it, though I can see why it was banned over here for so long.

^ Seen one shark movie seen them all right?
This has to be one of the most mixed film experiences I've had in a while. Rarely have I seen a movie that can shift from being completely naff to utterly brilliant between scenes so fast. At it's worst this seems a poor knock off of Lord of the Rings, complete with giant elephants and a tower that collapses in a shot that is very reminiscent of Barad-Dur toppling, and at it's best it's like a medieval fantasy version of the director's classic Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Some of the action sequences look more like video game cutscenes as well, which felt rather unnatural and overdone.

Okay western. Could have been better. The original acid western. Decent enough supernatural horror. Didn't especially care for it. Another pair of previously unseen classics ticked off my list. I'll try to get Part III watched today.

But was it any good? I liked the original film, but I've no intention of bothering with any of the previous sequels. I might see this one, one day.

Frances McDormand is a total badass in this movie.

An oldie. Supposed to be a classic though I found it to be a little overlong for its story. Enjoyed it for the most part though.
