Awesome band from Chicago, disbanded in 2002. Their "Darkest Days" albums is a masterpiece of Industrial Metal, thereby they should be included in MMA.

Stabbing Westward was an American Industrial Metal act formed in 1985 in Chicago, IL.
Founded by Christopher Hall and Walter Flakus, the band performed an intriguing mixture of industrial rock, metal and alternative rock, resulting into dark, bleak music. In 1994, the band released their debut album "Ungod". After touring with DEPECHE MODE, the band was able to finance a new album which would be their biggest success in sales, "Wither Blister Burn & Peel". As WBB&P ended up being a gold record, SW got to tour with major acts like DAVID BOWIE and fellow industrial act NINE INCH NAILS. After a very succesful tour, the band released their masterpiece "Darkest Days", a concept album with four acts based on depression and recovery. With the popularity of industrial rock/metal freefalling in the late 90's, STABBING WESTWARD was dropped by their label, Columbia Records, the day before a flight to Hawaii, where they would record their follow-up with award-winning producer Bob Rock. In 2000, the band signed to Koch Records and changed their sound to a alternative rock direction in order to raise sales. Their eponymous album was released the next year but the band failed to recover their popularity. Christopher Hall announced that the band had broke up in 2002. Biography by Starhammer. Thanks for the bio. Ive added the text to the artist entry. Now we wait for the albums to be added by the system. When they do you might wanna help with lineup info? Im not sure how much youre able to change on the album entries, but if you have some additional info, that Im not able to find, please help add them.

I see something has happened and some albums have now appeared in the entry. Ill check the entry to see if all releases are present.
Ill lock this thread for now, so if you have any additional input, send me a private message and Ill re-open the thread, so you can post your input here. Thanks a lot for your collaboration. Its been a pleasure. Edited by UMUR - 13 Nov 2010 at 1:49am |

Cool idea to add this page, but there are a couple of inaccuracies here.
First off, Stabbing Westward never toured with Nine Inch Nails but they did share some members at different points. Chris Vrenna was in the original incantation of Stabbing Westward. Andy Kubizsweski was a studio drummer for NIN during The Downward Spiral era. I'm also not sure if they toured with Bowie. Maybe at a festival? I know Placebo did, which incidentally enough was an opener for SW on one of their tours. Nine Inch Nails also toured with Bowie. During the Ungod era, Stabbing Westward toured non-stop. They did a lot of festival gigs with bands like Rage Against the Machine and Jane's Addicition. They also opened for Depeche Mode. During the Wither Blister Burn + Peel era, they opened for Kiss and The Sex Pistols. They also toured with Sponge (not sure which headlined and which opened though). During the Darkest Days years, they headlined tours with God Lives Underwater opening for them. Their second tour was a headlining one with Placebo opening. Lastly, the picture you have on your page is not a good representation of the band since there are only two actual members in the photo (Derrek Hawkins on the left, Christopher Hall on the right, and some strange dude not related to the band in the middle. Here's a link to a better photo from the Darkest Days era, and in my opinion their best lineup: http://www.blastro.com/artists/artistpage/Stabbing+Westward.html Here's some lineups to know: Ungod Christopher Hall Walter Flakus Jim Sellers David Suycott Stuart Zechman (also played with Filter) Wither Blister Burn + Peel Christopher Hall Walter Flakus Jim Sellers Marcus Elioupulous (added after the album was recorded) Andy Kubizsewski Darkest Days *Same lineup as WBB+P Stabbing Westward Christopher Hall Walter Flakus Jim Sellers Andy Kubizsweski Derrek Hawkins (originally a hired gun and not included as a member of the band on the packaging, was made official member after the album came out) Hope this helps, guys. Thanks for making the page! Awesome band! |

I edited the bio to reflect some of the suggestions. I left the part mentioning Bowie in there (assuming they played at a festival together), but I changed the wording slightly. I'll add the lineup info to each album tomorrow. You wouldn't happen to have a complete list of the role/instrument of each band member on each release, would you (either VioletEye or Starhammer)?
