I'm interested in this one but it's one of those films where every country except the two involved in making it have been quite shafted regarding it's release. Brazil had this in August. France in September. The UK isn't getting this until March. That's even worse than with The Lighthouse which the States has had since October but doesn't drop here until next week.

I think this is the situation of most non-blockbuster films, unfortunately... It seems that Bacurau is even available in some streaming services in Brazil. But, if possible, wait and see it in the theater, it's a great experience!

I hardly ever go to the cinema to see a movie. The cost of tickets isn't worth it when you can get the blu-ray for £15 just a few months later. Haven't been since The Last Jedi. We decided to skip Rise of Skywalker until home release.

Don't normally post my re-watches, but I bloody love this twisted movie. One of my favourite horrors of the 2010s. A later John Wayne western. Surprised to see it isn't too well regarded. It's not masterful or anything but I found it an enjoyable enough movie from the western legend at the tail end of his career. I've seen John Wayne westerns I've enjoyed a lot less. I passed this title the other day without looking at the poster and assumed it was a romance. Turns out it's actually a gritty as hell neo-noir crime thriller with some real gory as fuck scenes. Who would have thought a 2019 movie already regulated to bargain bin price (and not given a physical release) would be such a gem? 10/10.

^ It's up against Toy Story 4 so don't hold your breath. Pixar dominates in the animated award. Pixar hasn't missed out on it when they have a movie nominated since Cars in 2006.

Highly disappointing. I expected more of something that Guillermo del Toro had some involvement with. A comedy western full of completely wasted potential that isn't as funny as it thinks it is. The characters are written like they are modern people displaced in the old west so it feels completely anachronistic. The plot twist just after half way results in the remainder of the movie not having much point except to keep reiterating the same feminist point it had already made. It may have worked better as a short film, but the actual result is a waste of time. Just to be clear, I have nothing against a feminist stance in a movie, but there's feminism and then there's misandry and sometimes this manages to feel closer to the latter even though it's by a pair of male writers and directors. Just gives an impression of maybe trying too hard and ultimately harming their point. Stupid as hell (pun intended) but a very amusing comedy horror. Complements the previous film rather well, but is even sillier in its premise. Entertaining but probably shouldn't think worry about it being believable too much. I didn't get into it as much as I'd hoped, but it's a decent enough 80's movie. Believe it or not I never saw Unbreakable until now. Both of these were good movies, the former feeling quite atypical for a superhero movie and Split is basically a supervillian origin story done up as a horror movie. I preferred the latter. Looking forward to see how they both come together in Glass. Not as good as the first one. I mean it's quite funny still but I don't think the character arcs for the four of them were as well done as they could have been, except for Tallahassee. For Columbus and Wichita it seemed like one of those sequels that didn't know what to do with the couple from the previous movie so just fell back on a generic breakup storyline. A lot more could have been done with Little Rock too. Also Madison has to be one of the most annoying characters ever created. Brilliant. Didn't disappoint at all. Very entertaining. Very good drama. Twisted Korean movie but what do you expect from the man who made Oldboy? An OK horror, nothing more, nothing less. Solid thriller. Bit difficult to understand for a while but I guess that was the point. Puts you into the head of the character, who doesn't know what the fuck's going on either. Could have been a lot better. It was supposed to be a survival thriller and was up until a point but then changed tack and become more of a drama. Second half lacked much of the tension of the first and I can't but feel all the hardship endured by the protagonist could have been avoided if she'd just got back in her fucking car instead of running off aimlessly into the wilderness. But then we wouldn't have a movie would we?

Watched my first (not counting the Dragon Age movie) anime:
I have a couple of mates who are mega into anime so I figured I'd see what the fuss was all about. I enjoyed the movie - great world building especially - but it hasn't left me any the wiser on the general love of anime over other animated movies, particularly regarding this kind of attitude (which I've seen a lot of): Anyone care to clue me in? Also throw some more anime titles for me to check out (movies only, please. I don't want to get involved with any series right now).
