^ Honestly it's not as WTF as the grown men having a crush on a 13 year old girl in Castle in the Sky. For me that's the most messed up thing in Ghibli's work.

I re-watched it and like it even better the second time:

^ I have that one on my re-watch list.

Could watch this one a dozen times and still find new pop culture references.

Talk about movies being a waste of time...this was one of those horror films where I thought it couldn't possibly be as bad as it was made out to be. Spoiler alert: it was...worse. Slow, not scary, unlikable undeveloped characters, minimal plot, no explanation for anything...why do people still make horror movies like this?

that's a problem with a lot of movies from Hollywood in recent years, poor writing/story-telling, unlikable characters.
They make this kind of horror movies cheaply and they make a bit of profit.

Not a bad comedy drama. Starts off simply quirky but gets quite dark and psychological as it progresses.

Second watch of this 50's gem. Enjoyed it even more this time around since last time I watched it late at night and dozed off and missed more than I thought I did.

Watched this last night. Really silly, but the take offs and landings of the planes are brilliant. I suppose this pre-dated Top Gun as a naval air wing advertisement.Big smile

Not as funny as I was hoping, considering the cast of three of the best comedians of all time from SCTV, but overall pretty good for an 80's comedy. The absurd plot in of itself is pretty funny, and there's some great parodies in here (including John Candy reprising his SCTV skit role as an adult Beaver).

Visually spectacular, but the story was a bit shit and predictable.

I don't know what it says about me, but I actually really dug this one. I didn't find the violence as extreme as in some other movies to be honest and it's villains definitely have something to them beyond a sadistic 'because we can' reasoning.

Finally saw this classic. Great movie, enjoyed The Maltese Falcon a lot more though as far as Bogart films go.

I don't think I've seen either Casablanca or The Maltese Falcon. On my to-do list right now!

A lot of my favourite older movies have Bogart in. I also recommend if you've not seen them the following titles:

Angels With Dirty Faces
To Have and Have Not (actually makes a great companion to Casablanca)
The Big Sleep
Dark Passage
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Key Largo
In a Lonely Place
