I liked it but I don't know much about Lovecraft's work so I can't speak on if it's a good adaptation or not.

Horror re-watch day 29:

Except that I made the in hindsight silly decision to watch the alternate version:

Which basically turns the gothic horror movie into a poor man's Exorcist. Was far from my favourite Mario Bava to begin with but the rehash turned it into total crap. It's basically a completely different movie.

And so I come to the end of my 31 day Halloween horror re-watch challenge and somehow I managed to do it without skipping a day. And of course there's only one movie that can finish such a run:

Where are you guys getting film poster pictures that actually show up? Every time I try to post one, no matter what the source, it always blocks the image.

Watched The Phantom of the Opera from 1925. A bit of a slow start, but overall great and got pretty suspenseful as it went on. Only downside is that I think I just have some generic public domain DVD of it, so the musical score it has is just some loop of generic classical pieces so it doesn't really fit with the movie. Would've probably been scarier with a better soundtrack.

I sometimes get a random one from there that won't hotlink, but if you click on the poster on the site again most movies have another poster available which will probably work.

I have that in my To Watch list. Not sure which version I have.

I also get posters from TMDB, which I discovered from Adam.Smile

Just watched this:

It's a bit of a headfuck, but I loved the ambiguous ending.Cool

Thanks guys, works now.

Other than the gimmicky 3D (I know it would've been cool back in the 50's, but it just makes me think of the SCTV skits mocking the 3D fad) and some comedic elements that seem out of place, this was a really great horror classic. Vincent Price plays a great sympathetic villain (at first) that goes too far and it's pretty damn suspenseful.

EDIT: Anyone know of a good Price movie to go to next? I've seen this, House on the Haunted Hill, and The Bat and enjoyed each of them. The Fly seems pretty good from what I've heard about it.

Not this one.LOL

It's really REALLY stupid!

These two are cool if you like campy but creative serial killing:

And one I want to see but haven't managed to find yet:

There are clips from it in Cathedral's video for Hopkins (Witchfinder General)
