I enjoyed Enola Holmes, and Stalag 17 is a classic!

Yeah I only watched it for the first time back in May, but I already had to go back for a second viewing. It lost nothing.

Another re-watch this afternoon:

This was off BFI Player, but I have a large stack of DVDs sorted out that I want to go through again - not with the speed of my 31 days of horror re-watch project (which I'm still surprised I completed). I've also going through my special edition blu-rays, which includes Stalag 17. I have quite the extensive collection now with different brandings, most of which I've only seen once and are almost always worth a second viewing.

I thought Apollo 18 was very well done for a found footage movie.

James Bond vs James T. Kirk #8

Yes, Khan seemed a bit cross. There's more action than the first movie, and a story straight out of the original series (I don't actually remember the episode this relates back to). Also like the original series, it's short on science, but long on fiction. And Riccardo Montalban played a great psycho.

First time watching:

Good but Nicolas Winding Refn's movies definitely got better on the technical side later on.

Too predictable and stretched plausibility too much at the same time.

A real obscure movie. Seems it dates back to 1997 but never saw wide release until at least 2015. It wasn't too special, but it was quite entertaining.

Quite a well known Japanese movie, some parts felt kinda noir-ish but mostly this just wasn't for me. Found it dragged a bit.

Re-watches:

All three were overdue second watches.

James Bond vs James T. Kirk #9

This abomination might have been better titled "Carry On James Bond", except Carry On film are actually funnier and make more sense.

Peter Sellers could be a comedy genius, or he could be a complete cunt. Unfortunately, he's the latter in this piss-weak parody. A stellar ensemble cast and a big budget don't guarantee a good movie and this is the proof. Orson Welles was wasted (as in not used properly, not stoned!), David Niven seemed disinterested, and Sellers just wasn't funny. Only Woody Allen came out of this with any real credit, and he hates the movie! There were a couple of funny moments (magnetic homing grouse missiles), but they are few and far between.

If you want a good spy parody, Austin Powers and Johnny English both do it far smarter and funnier.

And this was the perfect remedy to the crappy Casino Royale. Yes, there are a few historical liberties taken, but this is a movie and not a documentary. Otherwise, a well told story with an inevitably tragic end.

Re-watch. One of the Coen's best. Really doesn't end up where you think it will. Also this totally did the 'what's in the box?' ending four years before Seven.

More Coen Bros brilliance seen for the second time. I lose count how many times Gabriel Byrne gets punched in this. Ouch
