Expected more from this cult film. Might have been better if Shudder had uploaded it in its original language and not dubbed. Not Nolan's best work and also bloody hard to keep track of, but still better than some have said it is.

most of the complaints I've seen about Tenet (which I haven't watched) is that the dialog is too hard to hear/understand

Yes it's really bad. And all the soundtrack and sound effects are really fucking loud at the same time. I spent the entire movie adjusting the volume. Pretty much all modern movies have this issue where the dialogue is far too quiet but it is extra pronounced on Tenet.

I just thought it was bad all round. Hadn't seen this since I was a teenager. One hell of a movie! Just the scale of this alone is incredible.

And this is the anti-Gandhi... Lots of boobs, bad one-liners, fake blood everywhere, and chainsaws.

Yep, fuck 2021 almost as much as 2020. And 2022 isn't shaping up too flash so far either.

Disc 7 of the Louis Malle boxset: Black Moon. I skipped disc 6 for now since its Lacombe, Lucien which I only recently saw off of streaming. This one is pretty weird. Louis Malle channelling Alice in Wonderland. It doesn't really go anywhere in particular, but its strangely absorbing. Makes a good companion to Robert Altman's Images, which also starred the lead actress. Supposedly this was Malle's first film in English. But I find it odd that I watched this off of a UK blu-ray disc and the only language is French. For what actual dialogue there is anyway. A lot of it is intentionally incomprehensible gibberish.

George Romero's long thought lost film. This was made as an educational film, but this film fucked with my head more than most normal horror movies.

Louis Malle disc 8: My Dinner with Andrew. Apart from a short intro and conclusion, this entire film is one long conversation. A film of that description shouldn't really be as good as this is.

Surprised by the lukewarm reception to this one. Probably Edgar's Wright's best film since Hot Fuzz and certainly joining my rankings of the best modern horror films.

Excellent techno-thriller! Last saw it about 30 years ago, and can say it's aged reasonably well too. Most of the scientific jargon used is absolute bollocks, but it's very convincing bollocks.

Based on a book based on a true story, there are a few historical liberties taken here, but it doesn't spoil the overall effect of this being a brilliant story. This also has a stellar cast, and some amazing special effects. Dad took us to see this when we were kids, because he'd really wanted to see it. Suited me fine, because I was a real space nut as a kid. Don't remember what my brothers thought.

Another one based on a book. I've read the book, which is hilarious. Basically Tony Hawks (not the skateboarder) bet his mate he could beat every member of the Moldovan football team, which had just lost to England, at tennis. Much hilarity and awkwardness ensues...

Louis Malle disc 9: Au Revoir Les Enfants. Occupied France, WWII. A Catholic school hides a Jewish boy among their number. It ends about as you'd expect it to. Louis Malle disc 10: May Fools. The final film in the boxset is a lesser known Malle, and it turns out to be a hidden gem. Set during the May 1968 strikes in France, this is part social commentary, part pure farce, and a whole lot of fun.

Two animated movies today, first one a re-watch.
This one is completely off the wall. Been seeing a lot of fuss over this one, and it's definitely a fun Disney movie. But the pacing of the story isn't great. The ending is especially rushed.
