Not as good as Threads, but better than I remembered. The bomb effects were a bit shit though.

Not seen Snake in action for a lot of years. Apparently this was a big influence on William Gibson's Neuromancer.

Big dumb noisy fun. In the best traditions of The Dirty Dozen and Kelly's Heroes, with a dash of Inglourious Basterds.

New Zealand's first animated movie! Saw it at the movies when it first came out. I'd heard it hadn't aged well, but I didn't think it was too bad.

Second watch. For a film with not much of a premise, this is really watchable. That is Hamaguchi's thing really.

Another Kiwi classic. Hasn't aged particularly well, but Billy T. James is still a pleasure to watch.

Bloody boring as far as musicals go. There are some very well known songs, particularly "You'll Never Walk Alone", but everything else is just meh. Louise's ballet is the only redeeming feature.

There are worse actions movies to zone out to than this one with The Stath, though I doubt it'd ever be worth a re-watch. I actually feel like I've seen the tail end of this before. It suddenly seemed very familiar from the point where Parker gets messed up after being jumped in his hotel room.

A film of the unfilmable. Love the craziness and the all star cast.

I was in a production of this when I was 15 (I played Crown Prince Chulalongkorn), but I'd never seen the movie. It's all a bit fucking boring really. Or maybe I'm biased because I hated doing it and it stressed me all to fuck having to sing solo (the couple of songs I did aren't in this version).

Demons are so much cooler than zombies. Not seen this in years. Love the soundtrack.

A group of friends, some of whom are obviously carrying some serious baggage about each other, meet up for a party. A massive storm is rolling in. At night they decide to play a game of Bodies Bodies Bodies. It's all in good fun, until people really start dying. Paranoia ensues. Film was okay; I felt like it needed to dial up certain elements to be more effective as a horror comedy but it also isn't the Z-grade pap that most horror movies I randomly select to watch end up being. The final twist at the end, although at that point I was expecting something along similar lines, was also pretty good because it makes you think about how easy it is to lose your head in a bad situation.

A slight deviation from the usual Liam Neeson typecasting by setting it historically during The Troubles in Ireland. Pretty solid overall. Textbook unnecessary legacy sequel although it was entertaining for it was and I maybe liked it a bit more than the third one of the original trilogy. Not sure this franchise ever needed to be one though. Surprisingly solid, if basic, western. Didn't expect much of this but it's alright.

Ever wondered where the inspiration for the Megadeth song came from? Yeah, just be a bit careful if you know too much...

Yep, just as bad as the title and picture suggest... It's great!

Did a movie marathon yesterday, all four films by Satoshi Kon (R.I.P.):
For my money, the best anime director who never worked for Ghibli (his films are much more adult and/or surreal). His career was tragically cut short by cancer. Some others I've watched recently: I honestly didn't find this as bad as its been made out to be. It doesn't have much reason for existing, any more than the entire 'World' trilogy does. Good news though, they're making the next one already with an entirely new cast to start trilogy 3. Hmm... Better to leave sleeping dinos lie methinks. Kept me watching, but overlong. I gather this one has killed this franchise. It was okay, nothing more. Solid, but weaker than the prior trilogy it follows on from. A very good older one, one of James Dean's three films. Don't go in expecting historical accuracy, but entertaining as hell. Billed on the case as Jackie Chan's 100th film. Boring as hell though. Saw franchise in surprisingly solid film shocker. Quite good, but less of a comedy that advertised.

I just read the book this was based on so seeing as there was a movie and it was on Prime I gave it a look. As usual the book was better. Too many plot alterations for my liking including absent characters swapped with characters who weren't even in the book, characters having different fates, removing most of the historic scenes from the end of WWII including most the prologue that lets up the mystery in the first place, downplaying just how sadistic one of the main villains in the book was (gender swapping him into a woman in the process) and also they not only completely changed the ending they changed the ending in a way that it no longer become a real ending and instead is left open with the suggestion that the characters will meet a bad end. Honestly given everything that was done to this you'd think it was an adaptation by anyone but the Icelanders themselves.
