Hey!
So I came across this forum in my search for new music, what better place to go to a forum! Im 35 years old, and im kind of stuck in my ways, I tend to listen to the same stuff I listened to in my teens/early 20s, nothing wrong with that, but im sure there's a lot out of good music/bands out there now that im not aware of! I like most subgenres, to be honest, im open to anything, the only thing I cant really get on board with, is heavy screaming or anything like that, or anything that you cant really understand haha, sorry, its just not for me, Phil Anselmo or Rob Flynn is about as heavy as I get with vocals haha! Please recommend me some music, Im ready for it! I want new bands, or maybe just older bands people might not of heard of.. To give you an idea of what i like, here are a few of my favourite bands, we all know them, we should all love them, but i need fresh music! Metallica (obviously), Black Sabbath, Pantera, Korn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, SOAD, Machinehead, Meshuggah, Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold I dunno, that's just a couple of them, you know, the classics!
Thank you all in advance! |

You want a bit of 80s thrash then. Exodus, Megadeth, Anthrax, Overkill, S.O.D, Carnivore (and then Type O Negative), Tankard
Or perhaps try a bit of Helloween, Blind Guardian, Running Wild, Metal Church, Manowar, Judas Priest

You don´t mention Sepultura, but you probably know them. I´d recommend the early recordings by artists like Exhorder and Demolition Hammer too, but that´s because I´m a sucker for brutal thrash metal from the late 80s/early 90s. If by fresh music, you mean contemporary music recommendations, I`m not the best to ask. There´s usually very little contemporary music that I enjoy. Oh...I´d recommend given Nevermore a listen too. One of my favorite bands, who combine genres like thrash, US power metal, and occasionally progressive metal into a style of their own. Great heavy band. If you really want to challenge yourself, go and listen to some Strapping Young Lad or Devin Townsend. That´ll fuck with your head in terns of what heavy metal can be.

I'm listening to the new Crypt Sermon album right now which you might like. Also on the doom side of things give Candlemass, Trouble and saint Vitus a go.
Also give Hell and Mercyful Fate (early stuff is best) a go.
