I haven´t really enjoyed any of their releases since they ditched the death metal growling, so I´m pretty excited about this. Their progressive rock phase is not bad, but just not my poison I guess. If I want to listen to progressive rock I usually go for the 70s classics.

The new Blood Incantation album is surely the album to beat for this year now.

I'm deliberately avoiding listening on Spotify so I can enjoy it on the hi-fi when my copy arrives. Having said that I already heard half of it on the video they released. Opeth might be the band to beat them, we shall see.

HMV's not sent mine yet even though it says in stock not the release date's come around. They've sent the copy of Hidden History of the Human Race I ordered at the same time but not this one. Different warehouse maybe, I don't know.

Just listened to the new Black Dahlia Murder, and it´s a great album. They did the right thing continuing after the tragic death of Trevor Strnad: https://theblackdahliamurder.bandcamp.com/album/servitude ![]() http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/black-dahlia-murder-the/servitude

Well I just gave the new Blood Incantation the first listen, and I must say it´s a brilliant album. It went straight to number 1 on my 2024 list. what a great eclectic tech/prog death metal release, featuring loads of 70s psychedelic/space rock influences from artists like Tangerine Dream, Eloy, and of course Pink Floyd.

This new one from Sadist might just be the best death metal album I've heard so far this year...

For me I think it has to be this one, although I've played it just the once so far.
![]() https://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/tomarum/beyond-obsidian-euphoria I'm also quite enjoying this one: ![]() https://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/crown-of-madness/memories-fragmented

I haven't heard either of them so I'll certainly check them out.
Haven't made my mind up on the new Arch Enemy yet. Certainly a few killer tracks but hoping some of the other stuff just needs more time.

My early impression on Arch Enemy is that it's a solid album, just not one of their best (although also not their worst!).
I feel like they've made a mistake in releasing so many singles before the album dropped. Like we had its best cuts already. And as an aside Dream Stealer was released in July 2024 as well. That's a fucking long time between first single and album drop. I do like that they used Alissa's clean singing a bit more this time at least. The cover song Vivre Libre was unexpected. |

I think that's a mistake many bands make these days, releasing too many singles before the albums released. You've already heard half the album in some cases lessening the impact. 1 or 2 at most is enough.
