^^^^ just read your review for Anguished and listened to some samples. I'll be looking into this more, BM needs more females producing the raw stuff :)

Coincidentally, I happened to receive a copy of the newest Dark Tribe from the label (for reviewing purposes)! First I didn't realize at all it was the same band that we discussed here earlier. I've given it a few spins and it also frequents my car's player. Really liking it so far though I've heard it's a disappointment - compared to the 2004 effort - for many. Still need to get my hands on that album.

Looks like all the reviewing is paying off! Yeah, I'd heard it was a disappointment to many of the earlier fans, so I've not picked it up yet. I think In Jeraspunta - Die Rckkehr der Tollwtigen Bestie pretty much nailed the aesthetic the band was looking for (from my view), so intense and psychotic.
Got this in the mail today along with a new pair of headphones. Mïsogi - Tofotukami Wemitamafe A little like Sabbat's Karisma, but with stronger traditional Japanese folk influences. Only listened through it once so far, but it's well executed. There's a great passage halfway through the album where the guitars and Shamisen (as far as I can tell it's a Shamisen, probably should look at the linear notes) are playing side by side to great effect. The token clean vocals, thrown in now and then, are a bit weak tho'. |

A couple of generous labels have sent and will be sending me some physical copies, which is quite amazing because I'm clearly just an amateur in the reviewing field with a subpar vocabulary and grammar. Otherwise it's mostly digital material that I've been receiving and I'm happy to review those too. They get free promotion, I get to enjoy albums before release dates: win-win situtation.
Sounds interesting, that album. It's not until recently when I discovered Sabbat's music, although I've only heard Envenom and Evoke so far. I found myself liking those album quite much, maybe I am finally getting better into old school thrashing black metal... |

'tis pleasing to hear people rewarded for all the time an effort they put into site like this. Also, 'tis a good sign bands are taking notice of the site. I've only got Karisma and The Dwelling from Sabbat the latter of which is one epic hour song. Never really thought the blackened thrash style would be suited to epic lengths but they pull it off well. I've always has a soft spot for this type of black metal, probably because Destroyer 666 were the neatest cohort on the scene when I went through high school. Two recent disappointment for me recently: Castevet - Mounds Of Ash Svarti Loghin - Drifting Through The Void probably should give them a little more time before making over arcing statements on their quality... possibly of higher interest to the prog people here? Don't know |

Quoting you from the other BM thread:
Speaking of this noisy style once again, this new compilation LP of Copenhagen scene is pretty sweet: "Gr Fraktion", 8 bands of which 7 are debuting on this piece of wax. Released by Posh Isolation (no surprise there). All kinds of weird shit on it. And in general, Posh Isolation is a good label in this field (and pure noise / weirdness).

Yeah, I'm a fan of Bone Awl, still remember getting Bog Bodies in the mail and flogging the cassette till it wouldn't play properly in my deck. Ah, youth obsessions. Now I just watch them in my periphery, with a vague interest in what they're releasing. The EP format is more suited to their style, methinks: short sharp and to the point.
Vehemency, are there any samples of that comp. on the net? I'll have to check Svarti Loghin's debut. Maybe my ears are not cut out for these post-hybrid, who knows, tastes change with time. |

^ I can drop you a private message later regarding the comp!
Musically the Svarti Loghin debut doesn't differ much from the second album, but I think it's definitely a better whole. No unnecessary Pearl Jam clean singing, guest musicians, interludes... Just pure autumnal ethereal melancholy. The unique incorporation of "country" licks to black metal works perfectly on that record, imo. |

Got this yesterday, highly recommend it:
Shining's Blackjazz. Insanely huge mixture of black metal and avant-garde jazz. Crazy shit. |

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

I wouldnt exactly call Shining ( The Norwegian one) black metal, but there are elements on Black Jazz that points in extreme directions. Pretty exciting act. I agree on that one.

New Falkenbach is pretty awesome, it was worth waiting for 6 years to be released. i also checked Ossadogva - the word of abominations, very good atmospheric / depressive black tunes from Ukraine. My recent favorite black metal is Taake, they are simply amazing

Actually, I agree upon further listens. It's more of straight up avant-garde album. Maybe some are confused by the name of the album . In blacker news, this album kicks ass: |
