Burzum is one of the best black metal acts IMO, and Varg has released many albums that I hold quite dear. My favorite is Hvis Lyset Tar Oss - what's yours?

I have to argee with you on that one. Besides that being the fist black metal album I actually liked Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is pretty awesome to boot. The only other ones I have are Filosofem and
.

I would vote Filosofem. But I voted Det som engang var because it contains Lost wisdom(for me the song that starts the depressive black metal) .

I was thinking about getting one of their albums (I'm a Burzum n00b). Where should I start?

I would start with Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, easily a 4.5 star album.

Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is my personal favorite black metal album of all time (5 stars without hesitation), but many other people would recommend starting with Filosofem. I don't think Filosofem is a great starting point, though... the buzzing production and extreme repetition on that album takes some getting used to. I love them both, though. |

I wasn't very impressed by Filosofem, though I've only listened to it a couple of times. |

Filosofem for it's sentimental values. I lost something listening to that album, and never quite got it back...
