In Europe released as "Killing Machine". In the U.S. as "Hell Bent For Leather". I have them both on vinyl.

I knew that there was one album that had a different name in the U.S. than elsewhere, but I didn't recall which one it was. I've also got an album on vinyl called Hero, Hero. I haven't listened to it in ages but I think it was just a compilation of Rocka Rolla and Sad Wing of Destiny songs.

^That's largely correct - Hero is mostly a cynical attempt by Gull records to cash in on Priest's fame when they signed to CBS (after having loads of grief from Gull, it should be noted), and is a compilation of existing material.
Some of the tracks, however, are presented the way (Black Sabbath producer) Rodger Bain wanted them as opposed to the way the band wanted them - and are interesting from that point of view. I forget which ones, but should be easy enough to Google if you're interested.
Sadly, it doesn't include the full-length version of Caviar and Meths (it was supposed to be 14 minutes, not 2 minutes long) - but Hero's a good "early days" collection.

I bought a 3CD set that had Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings and Hero Hero. I guess they threw Hero Hero into the set just to clear some warehouse space. ![]() |

Nevertheless, it will be very interesting if Judas Priest continued to the direction of "Sad Wings Of Destiny". I
believe the result would be a more progressive rock sound with hard rock
core and not the typical metal sound that characterizes them. I also want to say that the clothes worn then were much better than the clothes they wear today. And also the lyrics... Much better!

I've only heard Painkiller, so no vote obviously, but that album kicks ass. Looks like Sad Wings is the next step.

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with it, especially after Angel of Retribution which was so good. And of course their best album is Sad Wings of Destiny. Pure brilliance! |

I have a lot of their later albums and recently got Stained Class but I must say it is better than all of their later ones.

Ram It Down. I've had it on cassette since I was 14. It is wonderful from start to finish. Nice combination, of glam, power and heavy metal influences.

I'll go with the flow, Sad Wings and/or Painkiller for me. I'm surprised no one voted Sin after Sin though. |
