I love In Flames Lunar Strain and Dark Tranqullity's Skydancer, 2 first melodeath albums. I prefer that sound over "modern" melodeath. Can someone recomend me some good albums/bands that played that type of metal?

Heavier than "typical" Swedish melodeath, but it's an essential album IMO. It's not as progressive as their later works either. |

Definitely need to listen to this one more, lately I've only been listening to Purgatory Afterglow and Crimson II. |

The debut from Necrophobic is rather raw blackened melodic death metal. A classic in the genre:

Unanimated is another of the more obscure melodic death metal acts from Sweden. Im mostly familiar with the debut album "In the Forest of the Dreaming Dead":

Id recommend Amon Amarth too if you like melodic death metal. |
