I've seen debates all over the place as to which of these albums is better. I own both on CD and can safely say that In the Nightside Eclipse is better, but what do you say?

I personally think Anthems is superior, and don't think it's that tight of a battle.

It depends on your poison. I was never much a fan of the swirling synths on Anthems and the more artsy sound they started developing at that point. On the other hand I enjoy the more savage yet still epic nature of Nightside. But honestly Im not really an Emperor fanboy by a longshot.

nightside for me, perhaps solely based on a nostalgic factor. The former was one of my first metal albums, and hence attained a godly status (tho' I no longer esteem it so highly) in the early years of high school. Alternatively I purchased Anthems nearly a decade later and to this days have not been able to sit through its entirety.
