I know not all these bands are truly Avant Garde metal bands, but all these songs are Avante or have a lot of Avant in them.
Choose which SONG is your fav. I posted all songs I could find on youtube below.

I know. I know. don't kill me. There just has always been something about that song that was Avate-Garde to me. Same can be said for that SYL song. I just thought, eh why the fuck not, make it interesting and see if anyone votes for those songs.
 
I also hope people are voting by song and not band...

Well, SYL have many avant songs (many songs of Alien, Fucker, etc...). And sorry for my "aggression" Tongue But Slipknot made me angry, because they could be a good band if they leave forever their nu metal roots...

It did say in OP not all of these are avant metal bands.
Also....not to derail the topic but look up Slipknots debut album (their real debut which they have since pretended never happened) Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. It's a pretty abnormal metal album with some very intriguing song structures and progressive-ness! One song reminded me of Neurosis.
So "nu metal roots" well.........not really. Please look into it, at the least so you can see a different Slipknot....

I know, sad what happened to Slipknot since but goes to show you never truly know what is goin on in someones mind!

Also can't vote since I don't know many of these. Though since motW is often called avant metal surprised they are not here.

I never have cared too much for MOTW actually, I don't have a fav song by them.
