Interesting that they had Portal at a regular record store. Pretty good store that one?

Ehhhh they've got a great selection when it comes to old vinyl and newer alternative/indie rock stuff, but their metal selection is pretty iffy. I was honestly quite surprised too, especially since it was only $6! My grandmother has a FANTASTIC record store near her house with virtually every CD, LP, and music DVD I could ever want, but my local store is generally more hit-and-miss. Either way, I'm thankful I have a store to go to that isn't too far. |

Yeah I have to purchase most things over the internet as the nearest store that has anything useful is placed in Copenhagen. Its not that its so far (about 40 minutes in bus in each direction) but Im on a pretty tight schedule picking up kids, cooking food for them and just trying to be a father for them, so its not that often I get the chance to go to a "real" record store anymore. Ive spend so many hours of my life in record stores you wouldnt believe it, so I guess a little break doesnt hurt

I spend virtually all of my lawn-mowing and shoveling money at record stores, and the amount of hours that goes along with that is saddening. I wouldn't have it any other way though - we've gotta keep those places in business! |

Back before I had kids, I used to be a mailman for a few years. I had very few expences and almost everything I earned in those years went into CDs and vinyls. Almost every Saturday Id go to Copenhagen and visit 4 - 5 different stores and Id come home with around 20 releases. Sometimes much more and sometimes a little less. I was especially fond of a now closed store called "Secondhand Records" which sold used vinyls at 5 Danish kr. a piece. Thats slightly less than a dollar a piece. Almost all my prog and rock vinyls were purchased at that store. My full and complete Dire Straits collection cost me 85 Danish Kroner (Using todays exchange rate thats $14,60). Marillion, Greenslade, Camel, Genesis, Yes...etc. Most of them were purchased at that store.

You just reminded me how cool those days were.
Before I got married and had kids there was a place in Norwich called "Backs Records" I nigh on lived there. Lunchtimes, after work every day. If only I knew which were the most collectable vinyl records then, I'd be minted now I'm updating my deck shortly, so I think I'll be going back to vinyl in a big way. |
