Genres in my iTunes library at the moment (not counting V/A releases):

A Capella Metal - 1 artist
Alternative Metal - 26 artists
Alternative Rock - 25 artists
Avant-garde Metal - 7 artists
Black Metal - 61 artists
Blues - 1 artist
Classical - 2 artists
Crossover - 17 artists
Death Metal - 69 artists
Doom Metal - 33 artists
Electronica - 10 artists
Folk - 6 artists
Folk Metal - 9 artists
Funk - 2 artists
Glam Metal - 5 artists
Gothic Metal - 14 artists
Gothic Rock - 2 artists
Grindcore - 5 artists
Groove Metal - 15 artists
Hard Rock - 61 artists
Heavy Metal - 80 artists
Industrial Metal - 6 artists
Jazz - 4 artists
Melodic Death Metal - 19 artists
Metalcore - 20 artists
New Wave of British Heavy Metal - 30 artists
Pop - 5 artists
Power Metal - 50 artists
Progressive Metal - 66 artists
Progressive Rock - 21 artists
Punk - 6 artists
RnB - 1 artist
Rap - 6 artists
Rock - 8 artists
Sludge Metal - 19 artists
Spoken Word - 2 artists
Symphonic Metal - 5 artists
Thrash Metal - 88 artists

I like to keep things relatively simple, so I am in the process of conflating a lot of genres - for instance the punk genre in my iTunes library covers punk rock, crust punk and hardcore punk, and death metal comprises brutal death metal, progressive death metal, death-grind etc.. I've kept certain subgenres distinct, because they are salient to me, such as melodic death metal, groove metal, and crossover. Also, the number of artists within a given genre does not reflect my musical preferences. For example, I enjoy progressive rock much more than black metal although I have more black metal artists in my library than progressive rock artists.

My iTunes library is shared with my brother's hip-hop/indie rock collection.  I can't give you accurate stats on my tastes from that.

I can take a screenshot of my up to date MMA rating stats though.

I've tried to align most of my progressive music to agree with the classification on PA, and out of sake of ease and laziness I have used the every album/song approach like PA.  Thus Genesis is symphonic prog, whether it is the early stuff or the later pop stuff.  Eventually, I plan on doing the same thing with Metal, but for the most part I've just used the generic metal label.  The artists that have different metal labels were most likely labeled like that on a compilation and I didn't bother to change it.  I'd also like to breakup the rock label one of these days, but I haven't yet decided what labels would be appropriate.  AOR was pretty easy so I classified that separately.  I'm sure I'll probably use hard rock; maybe following the MMA category.  Maybe soft rock or adult rock, but I don't have too much there.  I suppose I could add classic rock, but I find that kind of difficult to use as a genre.  It is still somewhat generic, but might be better to differentiate from "Regular" rock.  One of these days when I am bored and looking for something to do....

I'm in the process of sorting out my media library tags. I've been kinda lazy on tagging music in the past and just gone with whatever WMP came up with when I put the CD in the drive, which can sometimes produce laughable results, such as Saille being 'easy listening'. Anyway I'll post here once I have something accurate.
