Yeah, I agree they are more goregrind than death metal. As for there being more extreme acts, I could believe that, as I don't really know that much about grindcore, but so far they are the most extreme band I've ever listened to.

I really wish Incantation played more shows in the town they're currently based in. Johnstown is only an hour or so away from Bedford.

^Yeah it really is a special album. Not for everyone though. Some find the atonal riffs and odd time signatures stressful.

I still find it annoying. That type of dissonance just doesn't work in a death metal environment. The majority of the time, I feel like they're not playing in any key. Yeah, I guess it's influential, but so was the world's first peanut butter and arsenic sandwich.
By the way, now that I'm finished with class for the semester, I'll finish up my negative review of From Wisdom to Hate sooner than later.

I was browsing through filters on Metal Archives and just found this excellent Prog/Tech Death band from my hometown of Ottawa, Ontario!

Doesn't it seem like most of those song titles are out of character for Nile?

Would you consider Bolt Throwers' lyrics (in any of their songs) somewhat "activist"-like? Just wondering looking at some of their album covers..... anyone who listens to them too?

^Well despite the fact that almost all their lyrics are about war/battles I think Ive read a couple of anti-war things in them. maybe Liam can help out with reverences. I wouldnt call them "activist"-like.

Heard today that Augury have returned to their old line-up that recorded Concealed (just without the female singer) and are going full steam ahead with a new album. Even more hyped for this than Sectu and Nile to be honest.

^I liked Concealed better than their second album, so that might be a good thing.

I can't agree with you there. I very much prefer Fragmentary Evidence to Concealed. My expectations are still high, but I'm not looking forward to it as much. I don't doubt that whatever they come up with will be killer, though. |

Bear in mind that the only difference in core line-up between the two albums was the drummer. The female singer from Concealed was a member of the band but her participation felt very much part time. I'm just glad Forest is back. His bass playing is killer.
I'm with Jonas by the way Concealed > Fragmentary Evidence. I have a review on the go for Concealed. I'll likely do one for Fragmentary Evidence as well. Been listening to them both a lot lately.
