Here it is...the Glam Metal Poll!
There are too many good bands of this category, so you have multiple votes on this one.
P.S. (Negoba, Stephen and NJCat 11, this is almost mandatory for you guys as lords of the Glam Team! )

The Cult for me.
They released some epic albums that I believe I played until the stylus nearly wore out.

Extremely tough between Skid Row and Extreme. I'll go with Extreme because of Nuno, but Bach era in Skid Row is killer as well.

I must say I own next to nothing from this list of bands, but I'm a huge fan of The Cult, both of their original post-punk and the straight power rock of later years. I also enjoy some Kingdom Come once in a while. |

Van Halen seemed the most reasonable to me. I usually don't like glam metal

I saw Firehouse in 1999 with a Glam retro show with Slaughter, Quiet Riot (RIP Kevin DuBrow), and Warrant. Firehouse was what they've always been, slick and very professional. Quiet Riot was my favorite, they had the most energy. Carlos Cavazo had much better chops than he had even in the 80's. Slaughter was Slaughter, Mark still had his vocals which he should as a trained singer rather than a screamer. Warrant was almost embarrassing. Jani was fat and looked like a slob on stage. They played fair.
In any case, Quiet Riot becasue a) Randy Rhoads started the band and b) DuBrow may not be a great singer but he really was what that kind of metal was all about. I also voted for Badlands (criminally under-rated) and Extreme (Pornograffiti is one of the best glam albums ever made)

Hi Stephen. You asked me what my most favourite was out of my list?
I'd say it's a close call between Van Halen and Motley Crue...
But today I feel like some Van Halen!

Thank you. I will do. The only reason I haven't done more is 'cause I have exams to do for my studies and I haven't been keeping too well for a few months. So it'll be the weekend probably before I put in some more.
Hope you don't mind.

The Cult's 'Beyond Good And Evil' is a damn good album. Not sure you can find another gothic rock band who turned heavy metal as them. Ian Astbury is one of the best vocalist in rock.
The best glam metal bands of the ones listed in the poll :
Van Halen
Extreme (Van Halen clone ?)
Mr Big
WASP
Skid Row
KISS

I like Mr Big, especially 'Bump Ahead'. They are a bunch of terribly skilled musicians !
Another 5-star album in the field of glam metal would be Def Leppard's 'Pyromania'.

Too bad Kevin passed away in a very young age though never been a huge fan of QR except for that "Metal Health" album. Have you ever seen Warrant with Robert Mason these days ? He's one of a singer Good news is Badlands first two discs will be remastered, I got Voodoo Highway but never able to buy the s/t coz it's too expensive on ebay, but I will put my order next month for the reissue :) Extreme is an exciting band, I saw them recently, December 2008 Take us alive tour, they came to Indonesia and probably was surprised to still see 4.000 eager fans out there cheering their songs to the very end of the gig. Gary's voice is still awesome, Nuno's in a great shape with six-pack non-fatty belly lol and he's a funny guy, haha that's a great gig, and I think we need to buy their Take us alive DVD buddy, it's coming out soon here's one snapshot of that gig |
