What's your favourite out of these 70's Hard Rock bands?
(Never mentioned the huge ones because then the results would be obvious...)

Thin Lizzy. I like their dual guitar attack, and Lynnot had a unique voice. Probably the only Irish band in my music collection.

Tough, tough poll.
In the end as "Strangers In The Night" is one of my favourite albums, UFO sneak it.

Blackfoot and Lynyrd Skynyrd are southern rock. Blackfoot' 'strikes' is essential.
I vote for Uriah heep, their first five albums are mandatory. However, they are more prog rock than pure hard rock. |

Uriah Heep, tough poll indeed, I also like most of those bands and Thin Lizzy would have got my vote as well.

This list puts me to shame as I haven't even heard anything of some of those bands. Early Uriah Heep for me. |

Triumph's 70's discography is outstanding (at least until Allied Forces)
ahead of Heep and BOC for me.

MAN! I find it hard to believe I'm still the only Nugent voter after all this time...Stranglehold on its own is nearly enough to make me vote for him!

Mountain, I saw Leslie West and Corky Laing perform a few years ago, Leslie still has it, vocally and guitaristically as well. Great songwriter also,
Bad Company isn't bad, they sounded like original rock n roll/Chicago blues. A lot of people try to do that, but very few can. Bad Company sort of picked up where Rod Stewart and the Faces left off, just with an unfortunately clean and compressed mid-70s sound. None of these people are Deep Purple though, ha.

Just realised I've already voted here, must have done it on a different PC to be able to do it twice. Edited by Nightfly - 12 May 2010 at 1:14pm |
